Plant selection guides
Describe the light before choosing the plant.
A room can look bright to a person while the proposed plant position receives much less natural light. Start with a clear description of the spot and the light guidance on the individual product page.

Read the position
Show the window and the intended spot.
Take one photo from the plant position towards the window and another showing the room layout. Describe whether direct sun reaches the spot and at what part of the day. Mention curtains, a covered verandah or nearby buildings that filter or block light.
A room label such as “living room” or “office” does not establish plant suitability. Two corners of the same room can receive different light. Give the nursery the intended position, not just a picture of the whole building.
Compare published requirements
Use the care profile for the exact variety.
Fiddle Leaf Fig is described in the catalogue as needing bright natural light and a stable position. Monstera, Strelitzia Nicolai and Traveller’s Palm each have their own light guidance: read the product notes before treating them as interchangeable statement plants.
The collection includes indoor and sheltered tropical choices. “Indoor” is not a guarantee that a plant can live in a windowless room. If the spot has little natural light, tell us that clearly and ask whether a different current variety or another position would be more suitable.
For garden and courtyard planting, use the individual Heliconia variety requirements rather than applying an indoor-light rule to every tropical plant.
Water and placement
Light is part of a wider care decision.
Read the watering and soil notes alongside the light profile. Do not replace those instructions with a universal daily watering schedule. Tell us about the container and where the plant will stand so the enquiry can address the actual setup.
Before purchasing, compare the current height and spread with the room dimensions. Good light alone does not solve an unsuitable scale or circulation problem. The plant-selection guide combines those decisions.
Ask with useful information
What to send on WhatsApp.
- The variety you are considering.
- A photo of the intended position and windows.
- When direct sunlight reaches that position, if any.
- Whether the plant will be indoors, sheltered outdoors or in a garden.
- Approximate available space and the current size you want.
Ask for a current specimen photo and confirmation of suitability before travelling. The website’s care profiles are a starting point, not a site inspection or a guarantee of growth in an unseen room.
